This Cookie Policy explains how Dark Screen (“we,” “our,” or “us”) uses cookies and similar technologies on extension.dark-screen.com and related web properties. The Chrome extension does not use browser cookies for tracking; this policy applies primarily to our website and account dashboard.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the site remember your preferences, keep you signed in, and understand how the site is used. We use only cookies that are necessary for the Service to function or that you can control.
2. Cookies We Use
We use a minimal set of cookies:
- Authentication (strictly necessary): When you sign in, we may set a session or token cookie (or use secure HTTP-only storage) so you remain logged in on the website and dashboard. This is required to provide your account and subscription features.
- Security (strictly necessary): Cookies or similar mechanisms may be used to protect against abuse, CSRF, or unauthorized access during login and payment flows.
- Preferences (optional): If we offer UI preferences on the website (for example theme or language), we may store them in local storage or a functional cookie.
We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, advertising cookies, or third-party marketing trackers on our site.
3. Third-Party Cookies
When you use certain features, third parties may set their own cookies:
- Robokassa: During card payment for a subscription, Robokassa's payment page may use cookies required for transaction security. See Robokassa's policies.
- CryptoCloud: During cryptocurrency payment, CryptoCloud may use cookies on their hosted payment flow. See CryptoCloud.
We do not control third-party cookies; review their policies when you complete a payment.
4. Chrome Extension Storage
The Dark Screen extension uses chrome.storage.local (not website cookies) to save your dark mode settings on your device. With a paid subscription and sign-in, settings may sync to our servers as described in our Privacy Policy. This is separate from website cookies.
5. How Long Cookies Are Kept
- Session cookies: Deleted when you close your browser or sign out.
- Authentication tokens: JWT tokens expire after 30 days; you may sign out earlier to end the session.
- Payment provider cookies: Governed by Robokassa or CryptoCloud retention policies during checkout only.
6. Managing Cookies
You can control cookies through your browser settings:
- Block or delete cookies — note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent sign-in or dashboard use.
- Use private/incognito mode for a session without persistent cookies.
- Sign out of your account to clear active session state on our site.
Most browsers provide help on cookie management in their privacy or security settings.
7. Updates
We may update this Cookie Policy when our website or legal requirements change. The “last updated” date at the top will reflect the current version.
